The main trouble with Lee Scratch Perry is that he is so quiet, unassuming and reticent.
If he could only liven up himself and be a little more flamboyant he’d be more interesting.
2012 was a great year for Lee Scratch Perry gigs. The band was hot and Lee was on form. You would think he was 78 years old and had smoked enough ganga to build a haystack. He was scintillating, scampering and prancing around the stage like a teenager.
His costume was so bright that you needed sunglasses to look at him.
What a character.
This man is a living legend. He not only revolutionised Studio One in Jamaica but set up his own weird studio – The Black Ark – where he pioneered the most amazing studio techniques to create a great deal of music that pushed the limits in every respect. It was an honour to see him!
I tried a few effects. I thought it was appropriate.

Hahahaha!
Didn’t he burn his Black Ark down? Can’t recall the reason for it though.
Yeah I think he did – probably in a mist of ganga. Quite a character.
