This was one of the most beautiful walks on a superb sunny day.

Quite wonderful
A beautiful place.
Yes, I am sure.
It’s a five mile walk to a pub. Just what you need on a Summer’s day.
Hope you did not overdo it, drink I mean, (no Guinness only in Ireland that’s the only way to have one).
Oh I agree – Guinness is great in Ireland and crap elsewhere. One pint of local ale is sufficient for me!
Local ale sounds lovely, not that I am into that. Do you not like Beer is that different from Ale? When in Ireland always have a guinness it’s the only true Guinness. Love Irish Coffees. David likes John Smiths Bitter, I think it’s Bitter, Jonathan likes the American thing I can’t think what it is called. At the moment I like a Pink Gin every night, stops the pain for a while, finish it as I go to bed then I sleep.
I think ale is just a fancy name for a beer. I like to try new ones and there are hundreds of little local breweries springing up all over the place. I think they need supporting. Some of them are really good.
Really I hope they are all a success and yes they do need supporting, so out you go and support them. See, I don’t know the difference between beer, ale, bitter. Are all those little breweries selling natural products you know no chemicals added. I heard today that we should be eating natural food and then we would not get fat. Like meat/fish/veg/fruit – isn’t that what most of us do. I don’t deny when the Boys get a takeaway on Saturdays so I don’t cook, it’s full of junk, no good to anyone. I asked the Boys who was going to cook when I go away (Jonathan can cook), David said “the phone, ring for a takeaway”, I really hope not.
Good healthy food – you can’t go wrong.
The boys will manage. You don’t have to worry about them. I’m sure David said that to wind you up. They’ll eat OK.
No Opher, as far as David is concerned he will live on M&S Chicken Salads and takeaways, Jonathan will cook but will be tempted at the takeaways. I am sure they will be ok I just hope I recognise my Kitchen when I get back (that’s if I come home), Jonathan has this organising thing. When you and I were growing up healthy food is all we had and we were ok, now it is all additives and junk. I always cook fresh – meat/fish always veg and there is always fresh fruit most times the fruit goes out to the Birds but it is there for them. Even Daisy is fussy, sometimes she has what we have and does not like pots.
They’ll get by. It is important that they learn.
They will, I have always done everything, spoilt them I suppose but that is what a Mother is for is she not, to look after her Children no matter what the age. Opher one day I won’t be here and they will have to cope. They are lucky they will have this house please God, not many start off like this.
Yep – when we’re gone our kids will have to cope. You being away for a while will be a good taster. They’ll soon learn.
Yes I think it will be good for them.
I’m sure it will. They will appreciate you more as well!
Not so sure about that.
You’ll see.
I think you said once you’d like to have a new camera, but these pictures are so beautiful. How could another do any better? (Of course I may be mistaken!) (About the camera, not the beautiful pictures.)
Given the right conditions they come out fine. The lens is lacking the clarity I crave for, that’s all. Never satisfied.

A few more.
Iron Age earthwork?
Hi Simon – no I don’t think so. Just a natural water eroded phenomenon in the Wolds.
is it this?
https://binged.it/2rQ8sty
Yes Simon – brilliant – it is of Brubber Dale. We walked down the dale from Fridaythorpe, up the steep slope to the top and into Huggate (to the pub), then back. One of our favourite little walks!
Very clever finding that Simon! I did not know there were any earthworks near there. Just goes to show!
I am wondering whether it potentially marks some kind of border for the Parisi?

You can follow that earthwork intermittently on the map: I don’t know this area but there is a section down towards Millington and another section the other side of Wetwang. I don’t know if the thing at Pockthorpe Hall is the same one.
Absolutely fascinating. I knew nothing about this. So what were these earthworks?
Oh you might find this interesting…

That is really interesting. I would never have known. Next time we’re there I’ll have to go and investigate further. Thanks so much for that Simon.

Yes – such a rich history. I love it. More to this walk than I imagined!
