George Harrison – Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) – a song for the fundamentalists.

I thought this was appropriate to both the terrorists and governments!

I can’t help thinking that you don’t solve fascism with bombs. You have to tackle the root causes – Inequality, intolerance, poverty, fundamentalism, war and unemployment.

“Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)”

Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
heart and soul

OM M M M M M M M M M M M M M
M M M My Lord . . .

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Won’t you please
Oh won’t you

Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
heart and soul

OM M M M M M M M M M M M M M
M M M My Lord . . .

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

      1. Such a shame that Lennon and Harrison went out much too early. I would have loved to see the Beatles reform. They were extraordinary.

  1. I never cared for that group but I did think that George Harrison should have been given more credit. Do you recall that “lost weekend” of John Lennon’s when the world’s press were looking for him, well he was holed up in Rod McKuen’s house, Rod had given his house over to Lennon – just a silly bit of info.

    1. Well I’m sitting here this morning writing all these anecdotes from long ago. I’m enjoying stirring up all those memories but I can’t help thinking I’m rehashing things I’ve already done elsewhere – just putting a bit more flesh on it.
I have these pretentions towards being a writer. One day!

      1. You are already a Writer you have published books and a bloody good writer too. There are more books of yours out there I will read and this one will be another one I can look forward to.

      2. In my head a writer is someone who gets properly published and is appreciated by others for their prowess. I’m short of that.

  2. Are you not properly published, I know it is not much but I appreciate your writing, if only all those that purchased your books would leave a review.

    1. I’ve only had two books published and they were education books. I self-publish the others. I need to try and get them properly published but that takes time and effort that I begrudge taking out of the writing. I enjoy writing. I don’t enjoy hawking it round or marketing.

      1. I know the sixties were different and much nicer times but what Rod McKuen did as he was ignored by publishers, he packed the boot of his car and sold his books from the boot to people on the streets of San Francisco and he sold out – it was all go then. I am not suggesting you do that, but maybe a stall for a day selling direct I honestly believe you would sell. I will do my best to promote you because I love your books they make me happy. Just had a thought, my Posters, I know you are in Hull isn’t and I am in Clacton-on-Sea. Tomorrow I will put a Poster up recommending your books, Christmas coming. I will get Jonathan to take a photo and well I have no idea how you do it then, can he put it on my blog?

      2. The trouble is that Createspace sell the books quite expensively. I only receive about 80p a book. So I would have to buy a lot and sell all of them to make any profit. It wouldn’t cover the cost of the stall.
Right now I’m not really hung up on selling (though that would be great). I’m still in writing mode. That’s what I love doing.
I need a Literary Agent or Publisher to descend on a white stallion and offer me a publishing deal to get them out there. Until then I’ll keep plugging along low-key. But thanks for all your belief and support. It makes me feel good.

      3. The important thing for me was to have the satisfaction of holding something I’ve produced out of nothing in my hand instead of it being a computer file or typed document on a shelf. That feels good.
I’ve been writing for forty five years now. I have fifty books and I love them all even though they are not all good. Every time I start writing one I think it is the best thing I’ve ever done. It is only when I finish it that I realise that it probably isn’t any better than the others.
        I live in hope.
But writing is a compulsion for me. If I was on a desert island I’ll still do it. I love it. I have a lot to draw on and a lot of passionate opinions! I feel strongly about things. I have to express it.
I don’t know why. Most people don’t get it.
