Well I wasn’t sure what to expect given the fact that the brilliant Denny Walley has left and Rockette Morton is recovering from a heart bypass. There is no doubt that they were missed but none-the-less the band were still brilliant. Max Kutner looked the part and filled in well. Heaven knows how he learnt all those intricate guitar parts. Brian Havey on keyboards stepped in for Rockette and did a low-key keyboard job. It worked well but you miss Rockette’s giant presence. His bass playing is immense.
On numbers like Moonlight on Vermont, Low Yo Yo, Big eyed Beans, and Electricity they stormed along and you hardly noticed any difference. They were immense.
I thought they had a more jazzy feel and it was interesting to see how they added some different material.
Well done guys – great show! I loved it. All my misapprehensions were blown away!!
Best wishes to Mark – hope he recovers well and is back on the road soon!
Here’s a few pictures I took:

Were there any “jazz cigarettes” on sale at the show?
No. I think those days are gone.
I had never heard of these “jazz” things, Jonathan asked me to ask. The last Bob Dylan concert he went to he said the air was full of smoke all around my age he said and puffing away. No offence Opher on previous question.
There’s never any offence. As you see from the books – drugs were part of the culture. I inhaled.
Thank you.
No probs.
