Humans sure have a few faulty genes. I think we all have the potential to do horrendous things – some more than others. It is also apparent that a number of people have stunted feelings due to psychopathic or sociopathic tendencies.
There is a tendency for those with sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies to reach the top in all fields. They are black and white in terms of their views which gives the illusion of strength and clarity. We like decisiveness. We see it as strength. It was a valuable leadership quality in ancient times. Unfortunately most issues in this complex world are grey and require more nuanced responses.
The other characteristic they possess is that they either don’t care about other people or positively enjoy hurting them. That means they do not care about the feelings of others that they destroy on the way up and they do not care about the people they destroy through their policies.
Many politicians seem like that to me and Trump epitomises it.
