So Day 11 of isolation is beginning to come out of the false dawn. Our elder and his wife are at home with symptoms – cough, high temperature, sweats. He’s a nurse practitioner who has been seeing lots of people with symptoms and poor protection so I guess that’s no surprise.
As usual they have not been tested, and so appear on no official figures. It seems that there is so little testing that we have no idea of how many really have it.
One would think that at least the medical staff need testing. If they haven’t got it they can get back to work!
We had all this time to prepare and wasted it. Then we started with that mad idea of letting people get it to build up herd immunity. That was soon knocked on the head. With up to 14% requiring intensive care the NHS would have been overwhelmed in weeks and then those people die.
Finally we got into gear but there is still a great lack of intensive care beds, nurses, doctors, protective gear and ventilators. This should have been addressed in advance! There should have been contingency planning.
So we are looking forward to at least a further twelve weeks of isolation. We are still able to go out for walks and keep clear of others.
So far we are healthy – though we both have a bit of a cold and cough.
I’m writing. Liz is doing photos. We worry about the kids out there on the frontline. Fortunately we don’t have to worry too much about the grandchildren. They don’t seem in danger.
Well, we are all under mandatory shelter in place orders, but now we hear the Trumpist/right wing message how anyone over 70 should feel good about “dying for the economy” and dying to make sure King Donald is reelected, so we need to drop all this shelter stuff and restart the economy for sake of the King. You know, those over 70 get social security and Medicare, so are a drain in best of times. IF we lose a million of them, good. They’ll be dead, but the economy for their grandchildren will live on. Huh? This crap is all over the rightist press and from people like the Lt. Governor of Texas. Natzees!!! Bah!
It is unbelievable Jeff. Does Trump count himself in that old category? What a callous society is being built in America.
You Brits were even slower than us yanks to respond. Of course, it’ll all be over by Easter.
Hi Bumba – well we’ve both got stupid populist leaders who are bumbling around. Only to be expected. I agree it will all be over by Easter. I’m just not sure which year.
Stay safe!!
Right. Trump’s son in law must’ve told him that at Pesach, it’ll pass over.
Lol – He’ll have to be told – he can’t read.
