I mean you no harm
I don’t mean you any harm.
I’m just allured to your charm.
Who would have thought that such simplicity
Would resound through corridors of history.
Yet this simple act of great desire
Has set the whole world on fire.
Murder, rape, fashion, conquest and art
Have played host to this bit part.
The result of this simple game
Is that kingdoms rise and kingdoms wane
And men and women are driven insane.
For this simple act you see
Is tangled with intense complexity.
The right to choose and select
Is married to the need to respect
Resulting in women chained in veils
And the invention of sin and hells.
In order to ascertain paternity
We have created chastity.
Yet this simple act of biology,
Designed to mix genes in embryology
Is connected with such fervour and intrigue
That it dominates – for want of a little seed.
Some dedicate their whole lives
To this pursuit,
Risk their future,
Become destitute.
Some sell themselves
To abuse
And never glimpse
That golden goose.
All for the sake
Of a teaspoon
Of fluid.
Opher – 10.11.2019
For the exchange of a little fluid careers are sacrificed, lives wrecked and history altered.
It sometimes seems to me that this act of love completely dominates our history.
There is Intrigue to your writing Opher! Those last three lines… My thoughts exactly! Live long and prosperous dear man! ☀️
Thank you Myth. You are a wonder!
Oh Ivor…now I wonder!☀️
Wondering is the start of wisdom!
You are absolutely right!
I wish more people wondered.
Me too Opher, me too…
I bit more wondering and a bit less action might be a good prescription!
Indeed!😉 Have a beautiful morning, day, and evening dear man!
Thank you Myth – and returned to you magnified.
You betcha!☀️
Excellento!!
Ivor…your poetry is becoming more and more beautiful… 🌹
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words!
You’re very welcome Opher!
Cheers Myth.
Why in the world did I call you Ivor!? My apologies Opher! You took it like a champ! 😀🙌 I’ve had such a busy day and I did sit down to take a break and have a cup of coffee and I believe I had just read something by Ivor and he had a video he had put up. But I knew who I was replying to! I have really been enjoying your poetry as of late. Nicely done! your intellect keeps me coming back to re over and over again! I wish you much success in your writing! Your poem about family (loved ones) was really beautiful by the way!
What is in a name? A rose by any other name would be as sweet.
I am so glad you are enjoying my poetry. I enjoy writing it. It allows me to compress my thoughts into shorter form. It is good to give words a structure – plus it allows me to express myself on a subject quickly.
Thank you so much for the encouragement.
