In the morning we’d sit out on the verandah of our lodge and throw some grain down for the birds. The most amazing coloured birds would come along to feed.

AT the moment our backyard is teeming with raucous rainbow lorikeets morning and evening as they feast on our ripening figs. I just wish they would leave some for us !
I love those lorikeets. They are special. It’s worth the loss just to have them around. I’m jealous!

Southern hemisphere birds, magical to us Northern hemisphere types. Colours, sounds, so stimulating – variety truly is the spice of life!
We love what is rare and beautiful. Perhaps now we are making everything rare we’ll love it more?
