  1. The end? It certainly is not.
    The people who count spoke in their droves. The Bush-Clinton dynasty has finally once and for all been crushed.
    USA can lose that useless puppet who could barely string a coherent sentence together off the cuff it’s had these last 8 years and see some real leadership. What a refreshing change.

    Trump won it big time and Republicans have secured and control all 3 arms of government – the Senate, House of Representatives and Congress. The Democrats may as well all go home.

    Clinton lost her chances all by herself due to several miscalculated failures.
    The setting up of servers for private email accounts, her need for secrecy, her lack of trust and her crooked links with the FBI. More importantly her giving speeches to the likes of Goldman Sachs for $300k a time and something to do with a Saudi Arabian money tree. Bad move for someone who claims to want to represent the people.
    Hence why she lost 5 previously dead cert states, 2 of which were vital prime Democrat territories that hadn’t seen a Republican win since Reagan.

    The leader of American Muslims – a staunch Trump supporter was delighted.
    Over 30% of Latinos, usually very poor voters, voted Trump.
    All the media, the pollsters, the political pundits all got it all completely wrong and they’d have been better off asking Paul the Octopus, as suggested by one BBC presenter. Too true.

    Furthermore, Trump very recently stated that the UK will be his #1 country to expand business with. He hates the EU as much as the majority of Brits do.

    The future’s so bright, I’ve got to wear shades.

      Not so sure I’m crazy about the huge tax cuts for the top earners. I thought the inequality was part of the issue?
      Not so sure that opening coal mines and burning lots of fossil fuels is a good idea? But as he’s a climate change denier so that’s OK.
      Not so sure the wildlife round the world is going to be better off. Green policies and what happens to nature aren’t big with Trump. Polluting industry is OK with Don.
      Not so sure about NATO and defence of Europe? But perhaps he’ll let Russia take over the EU and protect old Britain?
      No so sure that building the wall is a good idea? But then Canada is now talking about building one too – for different reasons.
      I’m glad all the Muslims and Latinos are happy. Perhaps he’ll win the blacks over too?
      I’m not so sure that pouring money into the military is great? But he says he’ll smash hell out of anyone who stands against the USA.
      I’m not so sure that the isolationist policies are great for the world’s prosperity? But then all he cares about is the USA.
      I’m not so sure the poor, ill-educated white males and females are going to find their problems addressed like they think will happen? But maybe he’ll employ them picking up the bodies of the dead animals that will result from his policies?
      We’ll see what state the world and the USA is in in four years!

    2. Perhaps a course in basic economics would serve you very well Opher. Tax cuts given to large conglomerate businesses are the only way forward to enable future investment.
      Why do you think business left USA in the first place? Better weather? Nicer beaches? Wake up!

      Have you seen the state of the air force fleet? It’s old, wearing out and needs replaced.
      NATO with its current operational policy wastes huge resources which US contributes huge sums towards. Too many countries under NATO protection contribute zilch. That has to stop.
      No US money = no NATO. Think about that.

      1. You mean that there are no other ways to create future investment? I can think of a number. Corbyn’s idea of a investment bank is one that sounds good, but there are many more models. It doesn’t necessarily have to mean putting huge dollops of money in the hands of the rich and powerful and crossing your fingers that they might just do something with it.
        Globalisation is why they left. They could exploit poorer people to make bigger bucks.
        Not Republican, though they are a bunch of wankers, but the Tea Party/Trump end of extreme racist fascism. You may admire it but I think it stinks. I’m not into the crass mindset or building walls. I hear Sarah Palin is being considered for his cabinet? There’s a sharp lass!
        I don’t go inspecting the American fleet that often but I did not feel that they were underresourced – perhaps over-extended trying to put their fingers in every pie going? They like to think they rule the world. As far as I’m aware they put a lot of money into constantly updating. Personally I think they should put that into schools and the environment.
        But yes – there is a valid point that many EU countries need to put more in. Perhaps he is just posturing? Pretending to want to pull out? Pretending that he won’t support free countries in Europe if invaded by Russia? Perhaps he will support the Ukraine and Georgia, Poland and Crimea?

      2. You’ve missed the basic point – they get their tax breaks only if they do something with their money in the first place.
        They get their tax breaks only if they invest in the US.

        There’s a thousand combinations – all dependent on returns of course and completely dependent on the scale of returns over a pre-determined period of time, otherwise there’s little management of funds going outwards on speculation.

        And if you bothered to actually LISTEN to what Trump has clearly stated – “if you leave US to do business elsewhere, I’ll tax you to the max.” Now if that isn’t a stance against US globalisation – then what is? How much clearer does he have to get before the penny drops for you?

        The only ‘wankers’ we have running riot presently are these hard-boiled neo-socialist liberals that have caused untold long term damage to western society in general. The most dangerous ethos since Nazism.
        As for walls, they already exist, great long stretches of them running state to state. He simply plans to fill in the missing bits. Did you think there were none today, that this was a completely new idea simply of Trump’s own making?
        It’s certainly not and with a bit of research on your part, I think you’ll find it was originally a Democrat policy. Albeit unfinished.

        Sarah Palin will be responsible for Alaska. That’s her territory, so why not?
        She may not appear be the sharpest knife in the box – she’s quite whacky, zany to a certain very conservative type of mind set, but she’s popular with the people and that’s a position that you have no cause to undermine.

        You obviously missed the documentary with Trump inspecting the US Air fleet. It’s a never ending patchwork enterprise and needs fixed.
        They can’t operate military planes in the same manner as that of a domestic purpose vehicle. The maintenance issues are a 1,000 times fold.

        What he has to do or may do in Europe is pretty much dependent upon whatever Putin does, isn’t it?
        Nobody, including Trump, knows what that may be.

        Those companies set up in other countries. They won’t be taxed in the US. They’ll just move. He’s not in control of globalisation.
        And just why do you think that liberals are such a problem? They are not the greedy capitalists who are creating a system of global exploitation, controlling markets, creating poverty, war and inequality to exploit for personal gain.
        Yeah – put the mighty intellect of Palin in charge of Alaska. Strip mining, oil and goodbye nature. The world was put there for us to use – right? Or misuse? And all the creatures on it. Well there soon won’t be many. Trump is a climate change denier and only focusses on money. The environment doesn’t even get on to his agenda. The planet is more important than money.
        As we saw with the Falklands – what happens in Europe is all about psychology. It’s a game of poker. If they think the will isn’t there to oppose them then Russia will simply move in. Sooner or later you find escalation.
        With the break-up of the EU and Trump not committing himself to defend Europe, openly supporting the Russians in Crimea and Ukraine, and him wanting to break up NATO, we have a vacuum that Russia will exploit.
        Once things get started they have a life of their own. It’s dangerous.
        We’ll see if all the stupid rhetoric on walls, fossil fuels, isolationism, NATO and banning Muslims is real or simply a ploy to get elected. Time will tell. Hopefully more intelligent heads will rein in his stupidity.

      3. Visiting Dachau and Auschwitz is pretty salutary. Looking at Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq is pretty scary. Thinking of my kids caught up in war in Europe is not a pleasant thought. Seeing gung-ho politicians talking, like Hitler, of making their country great again is scary.
        A great job is being done at the moment with ISIS. The West supplying air support and training is ideal. The fact that the West can’t be accused of ‘Crusading’ and used to recruit another generation of terrorists is brilliant. Let’s hope they finish the job before Don wades in and fucks it up. I’m not sure John Wayne is the best answer – particularly when they’ve lost every war they’ve got involved in since World War 2.

From the garbage he speaks and his psychology – he is a real threat. He could provoke major confrontations and his policies will impact on us here. If there is a real basis for concerns it is not paranoia. So what is the word for someone who ignores all the warning signs and argues that there is no problem at all? Who states that all concerns are mere paranoia?
        Trumps stated views on the environment, fossil fuels, pollution, climate change, isolationism, Russia, NATO and walls, coupled with his temperament and crass character is a valid cause of concern.

        I’m not surprised that religious leaders are opposed to extremism. It is causing them immense problems. The vast majority of people killed by ISIS and A Qaeda are Muslim.
        But do you not think that the people interviewed weren’t carefully selected? I’m sure that they could have found a bunch with completely opposite views. It’s a game.
        I am sure that immigration and terrorism are very big problems that need addressing. Proposing to build a two thousand mile wall is stupid. Banning all Muslims is racist and stupid. He needs to get real and come up with sensible strategies.

        A great part of this is that it’s the general population themselves that bring these issues forward for authority attention. They are the ones with the concerns. It really couldn’t personally affect Trump one jot. But it certainly is in many communities which today have a total close down in social interaction where Muslims create their own enclaves.
        This is very un-American and millions of people want this addressed.

        Not sure why you think every expert is wrong – kind of standard Brexit talk – and the shit is already happening on that one every time I fill up my car or go shopping. Looks to me as if the experts were exactly right on that one and likely to be on Trump too.

      8. I’m not talking poll rating experts – I’m talking about the guys who have looked at the economic and social outcomes of these elections. The pollsters have been rubbish. The experts who repudiated all the lies told by Gove, Boris and Farage (labelled Project Fear) were right.
        My worries are the inward isolation, economic damage and effects on the schools, NHS and poor, environmental damage and race hate. I laid them all out before. The experts were and are right.
        In the USA it’s more of the same but worse.
        We have ended up with highly extreme right-wing people in power with horrendous agendas – abortion clinics, health care, environment, taxes, schools, tax cuts for the wealthy, inequality.
        What a mess.
        Hitler didn’t start with Auschwitz. He started by stoking up hatred and pointing fingers.
        Yes we need a curb on immigration and policies that deal with radicalisation.
        I personally despise religion and Islam is top of my list because of its intolerance and indoctrination programmes. But May’s first actions – increase faith schools and promote indoctrination. Nuts.

        It’s 50/50 and there’s little point objecting to one side and ignoring the other. That just isn’t tenable.

        These bastards that run that stuff make on every deal, whether up or down, they could not care less.
        They took 10p of the Pound against the Euro when that volcano went off in Iceland, just because of a few warnings put out about maybe closing an airport. Maybe being the operational word, but down comes the pound with a slam.

        I caught a very large and well known UK international currency transfer company out red handed a couple of years ago and had luckily recorded my two calls with them on the same day. At 10am I was quoted 1.15 E per £, I then checked out what Western Union were trading at, much better at 1.11. At midday I was quoted 1.13 E per £, same firm, different traders. Their contracted promise was to match or better any other trader on the market. Total bull.
        I spoke to one of their bosses and put it to him that my potential rate may very well be determined by a particular trader, some chancer after more commission for himself and sent him via email the phone recordings – and he bloody well came back and agreed with me!
        I received £1,000 compensation to sign some ‘please don’t say anything’ clause thing. Didn’t give them anymore business, immediately extracted my £24k cash transfer from them and bid them farewell – after using them regularly for 4 years. They’re all crooks.
        I can only imagine the scams going down with real money.

        The current unemployment rate in US is unbelievable.
        Where’s all their big industry gone?
        What’s the future for an individual without a useful college degree?
        $33 trillion in trade debt.
        If the USA does continue on the financial ruin path that it has been taking for too many years, people will be – just as in Germany in 1922-ish and USA in 1928, wheeling a barrow load of cash to buy a loaf of bread.

        Actually Hitler did not do as you suggest.
        He joined the ranks of an already existing party that was formed because of the financial mess Germany was in.
        He started pointing fingers in his book later whilst in prison for his political activities.

        With regards tax breaks for the rich, when are people ever going to wake up to the fact that they can go anywhere they like with their money and invest anywhere they like.
        What’s to keep them here? Nationalism? Patriotism? The weather? The M25?

      1. I don’t have any fear of Islam personally – I know it like the back of my hand. You know I spent years in Indonesia, UAE, Kenya and Maldives in direct daily constant contact with them. A very powerful type of them, too.
        Certainly not what yer average ex-pat would be in close contact with were he/she working there. Lucky bleeders.
        It’s the prolonged non-action towards its anti-social abuses that bug me – these guys running 4 families on state aid etc.

      2. I intensely dislike Islam. It’s the worst. I hate the intolerance and indoctrination. But I think religion is a personal choice.
        I’m not greatly worried by them. I think they will be integrated.
