Jack Kerouac – San Francisco – For Anna

Now then Anna – this is San Francisco – Beat, Poetry, Jazzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Cool. Just how poetry and Jazz should be.

We concoct our worlds and have to make believe they’re real.

Thanks to Roger Hudson for the link.

      1. Thank you Matt and yes I thought of you perhaps sitting in a cafe in San Francisco
taking it all in as I hope to in October. Really cool, I Closed my eyes the only way to listen, and I certainly enjoyed.

  1. Opher, what about songs with the title in them? Off-hand I can only think of 4 of them without including remake covers or googling.
Mean `Ol Frisco Blues – Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup `43
San Francisco Bay Blues – Jesse Fuller `65
San Francisco – Scott McKenzie `67
Let’s Go To San Francisco – The Flowerpot Men `67

    1. Now that you’ve said those four I can’t think of any others off-hand – let me see – San Franciscan Nights – Eric Burdon – Lowell Fulson – San Francisco Blues – that’s about it.

  2. I аm sure thiis аrticle has touched all the internet useгs,
its really really fastіdious paragrаph on building
    up new website.

  3. Loved this when I heard it May last year, loved it still, wonderful. Opher have you heard from Matt, if you do please pass on my best wishes to him, please ask him to keep in touch.

    1. I love it too Anna.
No I’ve not heard from Matt recently. I’ll pass on your best wishes when I do. I’m sure he’ll put out something on his Bukowski blog soon.

      1. Thanks Opher, I miss Matt’s blog. You must have some great memories of San Francisco. I am still hoping to go, maybe not the age I wanted to go, and I expect I won’t be allowed to go alone, but I have to make SF it means too much to me.

      2. Yes Anna – San Francisco is a special and beautiful place. It has such resonance both with the fifties Beat Poetry and the Sixties Underground. We went there in 1971 and met some great people that we still keep up with.
The city is a beautiful place and there are many places to visit. It has a bohemian, alternative, creative feel to it. I think you would love it and find much of your poet’s haunts still alive. You do need to go.

  4. Thank you Opher, I have to go it just pulls my heart. I think next year is out. This has been a terrible year. I am not as strong as I was, too many medical visits, too many prescription drugs and errors and damage I did not need. Jonathan tells me I can’t go alone, he would come with me. I so wanted to wander around SF on my own and try to imagine how it felt back in the 50s/6os and 70s. My heart is pulling me there I just need the body to go along. Wonderful memories you have, do you have any pics of the Bay area and Salsalito, the latter I really want to make.

    1. That would be great to go with Jonathan. It would be ideal. You’d love it.
I’ll check out my piccies of SF and put them out again. Cheers Anna. Go for it.

      1. You are very good, you brought tears to my eyes (very emotional lately, stupid I guess). I know we disagree on some things but I enjoy our conversations. Thanks Opher.

      2. You are more than welcome Anna. It would make me very happy to know you got your wish and made it to SF. It’s waiting for you.
