Well I hope you all managed to listen in to Nick yesterday. It was a real treat to hear him on the radio. We need a lot more of that! And TV! He is a genius.

Nick had a brief talk about vinyl and his new triple vinyl set of albums and the inevitable mention of Roy. Then he sang one of his favourite songs – The Verse Time Forgot – a beautiful, lilting track with a delightful melody. It is such a personal song. A song about his mother, wife and daughter and himself. It is a song written straight from the heart.
The performance was spot on. The guitar work crisp and delicate and the voice poignant. He is a wonderful guitarist, a genuinely brilliant songwriter and great human being.
I’m listening to it for the third time this morning. If you haven’t heard him before you need to listen a little to get into the vibe. It’s well worth it. He’s a gem.
Let’s hope there’s a lot more radio to come in the future. The world needs genuine performances like this. We’ve had enough of the Voice and plastic music. Give us the real thing! More Nick Harper!
