Papa Jose – The Only Good Addiction is Love
Jose Majica is an old man, a past President of Uruguay, a fat old contented man, living modestly in a little house no bigger than most of his compatriots. He is a man who spurned the trappings of power and wealth. He is a man that has been shot three times for his beliefs and refused to die. He was a terrorist rebel. He stood for fairness, justice and equality.
He is one of the few who put those values into practice when he achieved power. For Jose it was not rhetoric.
He was a liberaliser and a pragmatist.
He legalised marijuana but insisted that it was not good. He stated that the only good addiction was love. But it was better for the health of the people if the drug was controlled and the money taken out of the hands of the underworld.
He chuckles a lot. He is old and fat but still full of fire.
I wish he ruled the world.
Papa Jose – The Only Good Addiction is Love
Love
Is the only
Good addiction.
That is the magic of Mujica.
Fairness
Is the only
Thing worth being shot for.
That is the magic of Mujica.
Equality
Is the only
Struggle worth a bean.
That is the magic of Mujica.
Freedom
Is the only
Dream to hang on to.
That is the magic of Mujica
Hope
Is only one
Of the gifts
That Jose Mujica radiates.

You said it all
That’s good to hear Anna – but I reckon there’s still a lot that needs saying.
And nothing will change
Oh yes it will. We have to believe that or there is no point in living. We alter the zeitgeist with our positive thinking. There’s millions of us out there who think like us. We have to change the world!
Be positive Anna. We will change the world!!
I am not feeling particularly positive right now, because David has still not booked my flights, the price has doubled and no availability left in the upgrade, oh s.d it I am really annoyed at it all – no one listens.
That’s a nuisance, a real pain, but cheer up – it’ll all work out!
I’m a pessimist. I know in my guts what is likely to happen. I cannot be as laid back as you.
Then take control and do it. Don’t leave it to David. Nail it down. It’ll make you feel better.
Take control, he is paying for the flights, I have booked the hotel and paying for that which is enough, I have to have spending money too, so I can eat and book trips. I just hate it when people say things and do nothing and I have to push push all the bloody time, it’s what my bloody life has been all about. So take control it’s all I ever seem to do.
David needs to sort it out!
Yes, well he has not started work yet and I have not seen him, I don’t doubt there will be raised voices considering I am still bloody deaf at the moment. Getting the runaround from someone is really getting to me, not facing up to contacting me is so gutless. Plus I have a damn roast beef dinner to do, no one wanted the roast last night.
Anna I think you’re having a bad day! Hopefully the rest of the week will be better! We all get them. They seem so bad at the time but there’s usually a rainbow at the end.
I hope I am wrong but that sounds so patronising, just as my Husband would comment to me. I am not having a bad day, every day is bad. Pain constant pain makes you like this, maybe some cope better than I do, but 24 hours of pain gets me down. I have the added bonus of being deaf in both ears now, hopefully one temporary. When something goes wrong here I get worked up because I find it hard to cope with the pain let alone more problems. So please don’t patronise me Opher if that is what you were doing.
I wiped out a post of yours I wanted to comment on, the budget. Opher when will you ever admit that Labour are not perfect, a lot of the mess we are in is because of Blair and Brown policies, you call them Labour Blair was more Tory than Labour. Do you believe that Labour MPs did not and do not fill their pockets with backhanders of course they do. I trust NO Politicians. I take issue with you here, I DID NOT say Nurses and Teachers were scroungers. I made it perfectly clear who and what they are, we have an area near here which is the poorest in Europe it’s a disgrace, I don’t feel sorry for them they are scum there are drug addicts, dealers, convicts you name it they are here and all working, like hell ALL ON BENEFITS, if you honestly believe there are “few on benefits” you really need to take a look around. My eldest Son is unemployed he will not claim benefits even though he is entitled, his Brother is helping him out as I am a little. I Voted Corbyn in, I like him but I think he is absolutely ridiculous when he believes you can talk to ISIS, really?
Why do you think the working people, the blue collar people who will vote for Trump will do so, because for once they have someone as they see it that speaks for them. Now you may not like him, it is not up to you or I, it is not my Country and I am not in that situation. I am here stuck with a Royal Family that are scroungers a Class System that holds this Country back and a load of scum who are ripping you and I and every other TaxPayer off and you call them a few. You can go on about the Bankers, I agree but you don’t think that Labour won’t pander to them. In your book I am reading you mention that you were a Communist, well as a Communist you should want rid of the Royals etc? I am sorry if you think I am having a go at you, it is not personal as they say it is a disagreement. Now I better get back to this Roast before I ruin that as well, I had to wait for David to go upstairs before I could do this otherwise you would have had instant replies. No hard feelings Opher.
I’m sorry. I don’t mean to sound patronising. That’s not what I meant. When you are dealing with printed words they do not always convey what you mean.
It must be very hard to cope with the pain all the time. I was only trying to look positively ahead a bit.
I agree with most of what you say here. I do not think the Labour politicians are always right. They are the lesser of two evils in my view. They all line their pockets and lie. But the Tories are despicable. They represent the top and nobody else. They hate public servants and always slash pay and services. They want that slice to go into the pockets of the rich. I don’t think I suggested that you did say teachers and nurses were scroungers. If that is what came across it was only my clumsiness with words.
And the one thing I agree with the Tories on is that the scroungers need sorting out.
I too despise the Royal Family and Class system. It stinks. I’ve never supported them. I believe in equality – which why I align with the communist ideology but not the tyranny that goes under that name.
Now I still like Corbyn and most of what he says – but not all. But Trump is a dangerous fascist and I hate his racism, sexism and belligerence. He’d start a third world war in my opinion – a very dangerous man. The States is the same as here – the lesser of two evils.
So – no hard feelings – we might not agree on everything but I think we agree on more than you think.
Have a good night and I hope that tomorrow is a good day.

“Equality, Is the only, Struggle worth a bean.” I love those words!
He’s a man isn’t he?
