Heading in to Sao Vincente at dawn
The sun was shining on the volcanic rock
Cape Verde is a number of volcanic islands 400 miles off Africa.
This is Mindelo.
Sao Vincente is the town.
It’s a fishing town with Portuguese heritage. The people were friendly and poor.

These photos are stunning!
It’s all so colourful
There was a great beauty to all that volcanic rock – very stark – and the people were so friendly.
An experience to remember.
Just the start. Off to Brazil now.
The colors in the first and last pixs — gold, blue, gray — are so awesome.
I like the sun – but maybe it’s the LSD making them look more startling Cheryl!
No. It’s worn off. I’m pretty sure it’s your great photography. 🙂 (Besides which you should know better. We live in Utah. They don’t DO LSD here. They do Xanax — all of them — and LDS, which is why they do Xanax! 😉 )
Is that a dyslexic psychedelic drug?
Probably!!!
So are you mixing LDS with Xanax? – SANDAL XX
Oh heavens no! I never mess around with LDS. There are some scary arse people in that organization!!! Drollery just made it out in time before they could steal his soul and turn him into a god! He’s got a big enough ego! I couldn’t have lived with that!!! 😀
Well I’m pleased to hear you’re not messing with LDS – messing with all that other stuff was quite sufficient.
Yes. The xanax comes in handy. I grind my teeth at night and broke two! Xanax helps, but I do worry about getting addicted to the bloomin’ stuff…
Life is addictive. I can’t get enough of it.
Reblogged this on Opher's World and commented:
Friendly people and a nice place to stop.
I really like how colourful everything is!!
That’s just the drugs Pooj!
Haha yeah that’s definitely it 😂😜
Dear Opher, We would like to use one of these pictures to announce a scientific event to take place in Cape Verde. What are your conditions for using it? Best. João
Hi Joao, Feel free to use the photo. Please just attribute it to myself and send me a link. All the best – Opher
PS – what is the event?
Thanks a lot, Opher. I will do as you require. The event is called Mountains 2020. It is the third of a series (Mountains 2016 in Portugal, Moutnains 2018 in Brazil) and it is about mountain research and development of mountains areas. As soon as the material is ready I will send it to you. Same for the website. Thanks again. João
Your welcome Joao – I hope it all goes well.
