Nuisance Telephone Calls – They have got to be joking!

IMG_6518

Somewhere out there is an army of people working their way down lists all after talking to the home owner.

We have the Telephone Preference Service but they still call.

7.20 am. yesterday I got a call offering me a new boiler! Am I going to buy a new boiler at that time of the morning?

I just get started on some work and the phone rings. I turn my music down, save my work and answer the phone to find an automated message telling me to listen to this urgent information or else it is silence followed by ‘The other person has cleared’.

Does anybody ever buy anything off these clowns?

The amount of time and energy I waste dealing with spam, unsolicited advertising and nuisance calls! My life would be a lot easier without all those stupid bastards!!!!

OK – that’s it – all grumpiness cathartically dealt with. I’ll turn my brain to ISIS and Syria for a bit!

  1. I don’t get plagued these days as I don’t have a BT phone now. But used to, always at dinner time asking if I’d like a conservatory. Oh yes please, I’m on the 2nd floor!
Actually I was called up a couple months back on my mobile for an as fore mentioned PPI refund.
    2 words and they’re gone!

    1. I do like winding up the solar panel sellers. I tell them I want to build a house completely out of solar panels. It soon goes quiet.

  2. I really hate these calls. I don’t know why, but I don’t get as many as I used to. I usually just hang up, but sometimes I ask them where they are and what time they eat dinner and could I please call them back then. A little mean. Not their fault.

    1. I knopw. I feel sorry for those poor guys stuck in an office ringing people all day. It must be soul destroying. But the calls are a pain!

      1. My goddaughter had a job in a catalog call center, which was almost as soul destroying, but she kept her humor by saying things like…G as in gnome….P as in pneumonia…etc.

  3. I have three ways of dealing with them, I let them talk away if they are selling me some home improvements and agree they can do the work, they get all excited and I tell them only problem is I can’t pay for it, so they can – they slam down the phone. Secondly I ask them to hold on and put the phone to one side they get the message after a while, finally I usually swear at them and slam my phone down.

    1. That’s not good!
They merely annoy me and are a waste of time and effort. They always ring at inconvenient moments.

      1. The definitely waste time, what is more annoying when you sometimes get the same lot ringing you day after day then I really do lose my rag.

  4. I don’t feel sorry for the ones who become rude when you say “No” to them, or you raise your voice and all you get is “I am not having you swear at me, I will terminate the the call” when you haven’t sworn but I bloody well do then.
