I saw T-Model Ford when he was 79 years old. He came across to talk to us before the show and told us that he was ‘A Ladies Man’ and kept saying ‘Jack Daniels Time’. He asked us to feel his fingers which were soft and uncalloused (unusual for a guitarist).
T-Model regaled us with tales from his life – how he was imprisoned for murder after a guy stabbed him in the back while he was gambling. He still had the knife wedged in his back when he got hold of the guy.
He didn’t take up the guitar until he was in his fifties! He’d been married a number of times and was enjoying himself.
The show was brilliant too!
