It is quite extraordinary to get songwriters of the quality of both George Harrison and Lennon/McCartney in the same group. There was something magical about that group of people. After they split up the magic rapidly evaporated and after an album or two the solo work was not at the same level.
I love this song. It was evocative of all that promise that early summer brings. The rebirth of the earth. The luxuriant green of new plants. The long lazy days of brightness that lay ahead. It lifted the spirits and filled you with helium to make your steps lighter. Your mind sang with electricity.
I’m still waiting for this summer to get going. Hopefully playing this song will give it the kick-start it needs.
This song isn’t just about weather though. It is about new love, life and optimism for the future.
Here Comes the Sun
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun,
and I say, It’s all right
Little darling
It’s been a long, cold lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun,
and I say, It’s all right
Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun,
and I say, It’s all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it’s been clear
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun,
and I say, It’s all right
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
It’s all right
It’s all right
