Foreign travel is a journey into the different. I like different.
Respect for nature. It’s beautiful, exhilarating and gives us life. We’re part of this wondrous spectrum of life.
We spent the day walking around the trails. There were quite an array of wild birds – many nesting. One of the Ibis nesting in the trees shat on my camera!! It was hell getting the mess off!
As the sun started to warm up we walked around the town taking in the old colonial stuff as well as the general feel of the place. Then a sudden rainstorm and into a café for a cup of coffee and cake – all very pleasant!!
It was so good to see Martin still playing at 80 years old. He was so important and seminal to Folk Rock and the development of British Folk Music.
Eliza is a real force to be reckoned with. Her voice and violin were simply brilliant!!
A superb evening – and an apt first exploration out of lockdown!! A covid concert!!
It’s not hard being on the Queen’s estate. She owns most of Britain. They took it from us long ago. It’s a wonder we’ve got any ;left. We wandered and walked, climbed and rambled. It was beautiful. Didn’t see the Queen or the secret service once!
The place was lit up like Disneyland!
As we walked to Fraisthorpe we passed the Second World War fortifications. All along the beach were a series of machine gun pill boxes and antitank concrete blocks.
We were preparing for invasion. It looked as if it was only a matter of time before the Nazis would invade. We hurried built a whole network of defences.
Due to coastal erosion these fortifications are now slipping into the sea.
We had a great walk along the shore near Whitby. The light was wintry and weird.
