We need our moral conscience; people who are prepared to stand up to speak out against all evil. Desmond was one of those.
I hope there are a whole bunch of other people stepping forward to fight against power for justice, freedom and fairness.

We went across to see Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for so many years.
You could see the mainland from the island.
There was the cave at the quarry, used as a toilet, where they used to meet for impromptu lessons.
The cells and the prison yard where they would be made to smash rocks.
Out that was forged the most amazing character. Nelson Mandela – an inspiration to us all.

You can admire someone who spent his life fighting for equality and freedom. Someone who was unfairly imprisoned in terrible conditions for standing up for what he believed and yet emerged in old age without rancour. He did not seek revenge. He sought harmony, peace and a better society.
Intelligence, wisdom and idealism in equal measure!!
