Somewhere in the midst of a brain glow

I had this mad inspiration to alter the words of the Judy Garland classic. It’s a real idealistic song. My version is a bit more personal. I see the whole world in a mess. Society is being led by megalomaniacs intent on power and propelled by sociopaths motivated by greed. Our numbers are going through the roof and we are literally chopping down the natural world around us. The anthropocene Apocalypse is upon us.

Yet, despite my angst, I remain confident in the ingenuity of man’s intelligence and the knowledge that the vast majority of people are intrinsically good. I believe we will find the solutions among the neurons in our brain.

I’m an eternal optimist and this is a bit of fun.

Somewhere in the midst of a brain glow

Somewhere in the midst of a brain glow,

Way too high,

There’s an answer to strive for,

By and by.

Somewhere in the midst of a brain glow

We’ll come through,

And the solutions we’ve stretched for

Will come true.

If you play a mean guitar

You’ll wake up people near and far

Around you.

Their minds will melt like crystal drops

To pull out all the mental stops

That presently confound you.

Somewhere in the midst of a brain glow

Neurons fry.

Answers will spark and light up the dark

If we but try.

Somewhere in that sparkling brain glow

Electricity peaks and words speak

And tell no lie.

Sometimes when I have a brain glow

My ideas fly

Ideas that fly out of the brain glow

To light up you and I.

If ideas can solve all the problems

Why not you and I?

Why not you and I?
