Quotes – A few Bob Dylan quotes that are pertinent!

A lot of people are bewildered by Bob doing a no-show for the Nobel prize for literature – I’m not. I think he found all that business of being ‘The Voice of a Generation’ a millstone round his neck. He doesn’t need it. It stops him being creative by putting too much weight of expectation on him. That dries up the creativity. He jettisoned all that as quickly as he could.

Having these colossal accolades and titles, they get in the way.

If I wasn’t Bob Dylan, I’d probably think that Bob Dylan has a lot of answers myself.

You’re going to die. You’re going to be dead. It could be 20 years, it could be tomorrow, anytime. So am I. I mean, we’re just going to be gone. The world’s going to go on without us. All right now. You do your job in the face of that, and how seriously you take yourself you decide for yourself.

I consider myself a poet first and a musician second. I live like a poet and I’ll die like a poet.

  1. Quite a few reject honours : Steven Hawking rejected a knighthood yet we have Sir Paul McCartney. There must be many reasons and in the same way Dylan has his own personal reasons for what seems strange behaviour . We must not forget our own behaviour may well seen strange to others . I know it is thought that artistic types are eccentric but this may well be a popular illusion , or it may be a ploy acted out by many to show just how artistic they are.
As for death let a great post speak: ‘Because I could not stop for death he kindly stopped for me.’

  2. The musical score of the famous Eleanor Rigby is soon to be auctioned and may fetch £20,000!
It centres on the themes of loneliness and death, born in a graveyard which contains a stone with the name engraved. Strange that young men should pen such a song while in their prime.
‘ All the lonely people where do they all come from?’

    1. Yes that is strange. But I think the Beatles were all searching around for some meaning in life. They had spent their youth trying to be rich and famous and achieved that but found it was hollow and not so satisfying as they had imagined. They wanted something more fulfilling. It made them question life and that took them to death.
