I was quite amazed when I read this article on VOX POLITICAL.
A survey was undertaken asking American Republicans if they would support the bombing of a fictional place called Agrabah. 30% of them wanted to bomb it even though they could not possibly know anything about it because it was made up. Only 13% were opposed.
I find it shocking to think that some people are so glib about killing other people. That is shocking.
Americans would bomb fictional places. Why is the UK allied with them?

ake a good, hard look at the graph. It is from a poll showing that Republicans in the United States would happily support the bombing of Agrabah.
Perhaps you think that’s okay.
You may not know where Agrabah is or what its people have done to offend the Americans, but you might be fine with it.
… Right up to the moment when you realise what Agrabah really is.
Some of you will know already.
You see, Agrabah is the fictional city in the Disney version of Aladdin.
Does that put a different complexion on it?
Admittedly, the current US administration is Democrat, but isn’t it cause for concern that the UK is now in an alliance with that country, bombing the very real nation of Syria?

What do we do?
Blogging against them as usual. The little steps’ll make the difference in the end of the day – that’s my belief. Every single petition started will help at some point.
Or it doesn’t.
OK – let’s change the world!
When you say the administration is Democrat, yes the president is, but both the Senate and the House of Representatives are republican run. Republicans are about money, and war brings money. Hopefully we can vote some more democrats in next November. Maybe we can get the republicans interested in bombing Agrabah, so as to take there attention away from bombing real people!!!
I like the idea of that. They’d probably all roar off into the sunset looking for the place. I think you could make a good film out of that idea Mary.
Yepp, Mary go for that. Films change more than politics.
Yes Mary – Matt is right! Get your film made!
Beautiful. We need to take over the world! Drive out the corporations and save the planet!
Thanks Matt.
Too bad I don’t know the first thing about making a film. I don’t even have a video camera or even a phone with one. It will take a global revolution focused at big businesses. Seems like a lot of people would go for that, but its crazy how many people don’t get it.
Don’t be put off. We believe in your ability to make that film!
The corporations are very clever. They run governments, media and ensure everyone gets just enough to stop them doing anything. At the end of the day people don’t like change. They’ll stick with what they’ve got. That’s what big business count on. People are, in general, lazy, gullible and wasy to manipulate.
Beautiful film, Matt.
Yeah – great isn’t it. Very uplifting.
I nearly choked when my son told me about this. Unfortunately I believe it. This is going to be the scariest election this country has ever had. Hopefully you know the majority of the folks here aren’t that way. This was a stunt to make the country look stupid. I don’t really think we need any help with that!
Having lived in the States for a year it was heartening to find that most of our friends, neighbours and students were relatively sane. There are strange forces at work. I hope, for all our sake, that Trump doesn’t get elected.
