Jerusalem – The Garden of Gethsemane

It felt quite strange to be walking around a place with such historical significance – if it was the real garden. It was small and not much of a garden but some of those old gnarly olive trees might just have been around back in biblical times.

Israel – Arriving in the morning light! Haifa to Jerusalem.

We arrived in Haifa and set off to Jerusalem.

The last part of the journey up the mountain was on a funicular. At the top was the 36.57-metre-tall (120 ft) bronze statue of Guanyin (Kuan Yin), the Goddess of Mercy.

In these days of wars and threats we sure need some Mercy!!

We ate a simple meal of fish stew in a local cafe and then took a funicular ride up the mountain to get the view from the heights

Penang – colonial days.

We started off by having a drive around Penang to get a feel of the place. There were a number of old colonial buildings. Penang was an outlier of the British empire. Some of the old buildings had been left to decay – probably intentionally.

Saying goodbye to India.

The sun set as a golden glow settled on everything.

India has so much potential. Overpopulation is its major problem. So much potential – so little opportunity. But it’s changing.
