Dresden was a beautiful city. On the night of the 13th/14th February 1945 British and American bombers dropped a huge number of bombs and incendiary devices on the centre of the city. It created a firestorm (as intended) that killed 25,000 people and reduced the city to a ruin.
There seemed to be no military reason for this raid. there were no military targets. it was not a communications or transport hub. It was a beautiful city described as the Florence of the Elbe.
The victors make up the rules and excuses.
It looks to me as if the bombing of Dresden was a war crime.
