John Cosby put this wonderful link up. It in a fabulous little club with RL providing the music. What incredible rhythms he creates on that guitar. That Hill Country rhythm permeates everything. This is from 1974. A bit of history. Such brilliance to capture a moment. How I would love to have been there. Thanks John for discovering this great footage.
Today’s Music to keep me SssSAAaaanNNNnEEEE in Isolation – Howlin’ Wolf – Moanin’ in the Moonlight
I was introduced to this album around at my mate Dick Brunning in 1964. It took me a while to get my ears adjusted but then it blew my brains. What a superb album, brimming with power and atmosphere. That hypnotic rhythm and Chester’s voice!!!!
I enjoyed playing My Muddy Waters yesterday and thought I’d follow that up with a bit of Wolf.
Today’s Music to keep me SsSSsaaaAANnnneeEe in Isolation – Muddy Waters – Folksinger
I remember getting hold of this album when I was sixteen and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. It still is. This was bit of back to basics for Muddy. So powerful.
Today’s Music to keep me SSsAAAANNNnEEEE in Isolation – Kokomo Arnold – Bottleneck Guitar Trendsetters
I was reminded of this yesterday. It was an album that I used to play a lot when I was in my teens. I hunted it out and played it again. It took me back. Great bottleneck guitar! I doubt it’ll really keep me sane though!

Today’s Music to keep me SsSAaaannnNeEE in Isolation – Elmore James – The King of the Slide Guitar.
i remember when I was seventeen going up to Dobells on Charring Cross Road in 1967 on my little motorbike in order to get this album. I’d seen it in the window. It was the only place in the UK that you could get Blues stuff!!
I’ve always loved Elmore James. Such a shame he died before I was able to see him! My favourite Blues guy.
As youtube don’t have that album this is the next best thing!! Take it away Elmore!!

Today’s Music to keep me SsSSaAAaNnNneEEe in Isolation – Robert Johnson
Back in the mid-sixties there was only one Robert Johnson album – The King Of The Delta Blues Singers. It was hard to get hold of. Volume two did not come out to much later.
They were recording made in a hotel room, makeshift studio. Just a few sessions. All live recordings from way back in 1936/37.
They were gold dust. Robert was dead at the age of twenty seven, poisoned, before hardly anybody had heard of him. If only he had known how precious his music was and what an impact it would have.
