Artwork around Camara De Lobos

We stumbled across a backstreet full of these fabulous array of street-art. Most of them were made up of cut up pieces of drinks cans.

Fabulous!!

Funchal – Inside the church – Art and architecture.

How much wealth has been directed into this incredible extravagance? All the best architects and artists were deployed to create the most spectacular structures – intended to inspire, overawe and prove that god is real.

Failed in my case but I still love the art!

Porto – coppiced trees, art, sculpture, park, cathedrals, tiles and Harry Potter

We headed off into the city. I was taken by the weird trees in the park, the graffiti, tilework, sculpture and architecture!

Porto – gaily coloured tiled houses.

The tilework in Porto is gorgeous! I love the city!

Porto – Tiled buildings near the waterfront.

I’m a sucker for colour and art. There’s lots of that in Porto! And churches.

Leixoes Portugal – The sculpture -“She Changes” by artist Janet Echelman.

I like art!

Leixões beach sculpture – The Tragedy of the Sea.

On the edge of the beach near the harbour entrance lies this monument “Tragédia do Mar” or “Tragedy of the Sea” a sculpture commemorating the Shipwreck of 1947, where 152 sailors lost their lives

Farewell to Rotterdam

We walked back from the city along the river and across the bridge. It was a shame it was such a dull day the place was full of colour. I was taken with the architecture – all modern but interesting. I liked the art.

I wouldn’t mind going back and experiencing a bit of the night life!!

Rotterdam – The Cube Houses

An amazing feat of architecture that looks incredible.

The Orkneys – The Amazing Italian Chapel.

A bunch of Italian prisoners of war created this incredible chapel out of an old mizzen hut. None of them were artists but the painting was awesome.

An amazing site. All in a corrugated old hut.
