Poetry Anthology – Stanzas and Stances – The Introduction

AppleMark

This is the introduction to my fourth poetry anthology. What do you think?

Introduction

For me all my writing is a continuum. I make no distinction as to what type of writing it is. Sometimes I write a novel that is a poem or a poem that is a novel in fewer words.

I have a coherent philosophy – make your life meaningful, fulfilled and positive; make the world a better place; be nicer to each other and the planet.

I do not like the capitalist dream of progress at the expense of everything else. I would prefer care, justice, freedom and respect.

My poems are fuelled by strong emotions. I rarely write about things I find trivial. I want my poems to express the feelings I have inside. There is a lot of turmoil in there.

At the end of my life I do not want to feel that I haven’t tried, haven’t taken enough risks, haven’t pushed myself, haven’t fulfilled my potential.

I want to make a difference.

I do not do things because I have to. I do things because they need doing; I follow my heart. It does not always lead me down an easy road.

By the time you get to the end of this book you will know who I am. I leave myself bare. Nothing is off limits.

Love and best wishes to you all

    1. I’ve always been honest and outspoken. It is hard. You lose friends who cannot take it. People like one thing and not another. But I know no other way. I’m driven to speak my mind and I want to change things for the better. What other way is there to be? I’m tolerant of other people with widely ranging views. I don’t expect people to love all the things I say. They can argue, dislike and oppose – it doesn’t stop me liking them. I believe in openness and honesty. You know what I think and where I’m coming from.

  1. First, I like this introduction. Although I don’t know you well, this introduction is a verbal manifestation of the man I’m getting to know. I so admire your courage, passion, and determination. Your positivity is inspirational. We see eye to eye on a lot of important things.

    1. That’s good to hear John. But I’m also picking up that we tend to think alike on major issues.

      1. Major issue for any reader would be the abundance of “I this, I that” openings.
An editor would have a red pen all over it. You’ve got the Stanzas and Stances, now work on the Structure.

    1. You need to understand the mechanics of our language.
Opher knows this already as I’ve previously discussed it with him, but he’s fallen back into bad habits.

  2. So why have you fallen back to writing like a bloody thirteen year old? FFS man, get a grip and stop accepting plaudits from people that can barely string a bloody sentence together.
You want to take yourself seriously? Well start taking the manner in which you write more seriously.
