Poetry – A Bonobo

A Bonobo

I wish I was a bonobo

Playing in the trees

Without a hint of agro.

I could enjoy my life

Having lots of fun

As in days of long ago.

Full of peace and love

Without a hint of hate

To taint the dreams.

Civilisation as a bonobo

Would be as perfect

As a burst of sunbeams.

I wish I was a bonobo

Making love not war

And enjoying life.

Instead, I am a crazed chimp

A bipolar ape

Busy spreading strife.
