Poem – Still angry from 1996

Poem – Still angry from 1996

I’ve been digging out some of my old poetry. I’m enjoying them

I think someone must have annoyed me but I can’t remember who. Maybe I was always just angry?

ANGRY

My mind is crippled.

My emotions crawl.

My memory limps.

My psychology stalls.

Shouting over the tramping of those worker ants,

Standing in the shadow of these anorexic dwarves,

My arguments decay into worthless rants;

My best ideas become fodder for the wolves

There must be more than this!

There has to be a way

That gives a sense of purpose

With something real to say!

Somewhere between the mindless and the mean,

Between the leaders and followers,

What is and might have been;

Between the sickeningly sweet and the vicious kick,

Between the awesome mystery,

Religion and the sick.

Somewhere between the ageing and the end

Between the discovery and death

The laws to break and mend

Between the exploiting cynic and the devotee;

Between the moments that matter

And the lives of you and me.

There must be more than this!

There has to be a way

That gives a sense of purpose

With something real to say.

  1. Hey Opher – anger if invested and channelled wisely into positive, creative endeavours is a productive fuel. Indeed, it helped generate this poem!

      1. Hey Opher – I’ve been looking for positivity in amongst the MSM headlines and can find no trace of it thus far. Indeed there is much anger globally as the world teeters on the very edge of breakdown and destruction. Collateral damage will be huge.

      2. Wheels turn
        Times change
        New ages dawn
        Minds awaken
        New ideas
        Positive dreams
        Cycles have their day
        Hope springs

      3. Hey Opher – I sincerely hope human-beings can avoid apocalypse en route to the dawning of a new age.

        ‘Hope springs’ – umpteen millions hope so!

        DN
