Ashamed to be English
I’m ashamed to be English
When I see the strutting arrogance,
The haughty ignorance,
The tight-lipped diffidence,
Xenophobic belligerence
And racist effluence.
The nationalistic stupidity
Feels like crap to me.
We’re better than that
And so we should be!

There is an element of British culture that I find repulsive – the smugness of the elite with their arrogant classism, little clubs and attitude of superiority. There is a xenophobic element that is racist and a falsely inflated ego that is extremely unpleasant.
They make me feel ashamed.
