Farage – the absent opportunistic agitator! The Farage riots weren’t accidental!

Pocketing the cash, stirring up the hate and division, making a fortune on GB News by spreading slurs, he zooms off to the USA to help his chum Trump, to stir up hate and division there and make a fortune.

He was a banker. Now he can make more money out of xenophobia and racism.

Clacton? Where’s Clacton?

We’re all paying a heavy price!!

Who made millions out of it????

The madness of DUP nationalism and the lunacy of the ERG!

The DUP and the ERG go together like Strychnine and Arsenic. They are poison. This far-right extreme nationalism has broken many countries and it’s broken Britain!

The ERG, with their rabid loonies, are the biggest bunch of crackpots in the country. Their xenophobia and outright racism know no limits.

The Liz Truss Plan for economic growth!

Give tens of billions to very rich people!

Tax cuts:

if you earn £20,000 you get a whacking £167 a year extra!

If you earn £200,000 you only get a mere £55,220 extra!

If you are on the bottom you get a 1% tax cut.

If you are at the top you receive a 5% tax cut.

Then you remove corporation tax increases so that the companies raking in the huge profits don’t have to pay.

Then you remove the cap on the bankers so that they can get even more multimillion-pound bonuses.

Strangely, the markets agree with me. They think that giving all this money to the wealthy won’t work. They’ll just stuff it away in the Cayman Islands and say thank you very much.

We drove the bankers and firms away with Brexit. Now we’re trying to bribe them to come back. No chance.

The markets saw this hugely expensive gamble as completely reckless.

The pound has dived.

The cost of borrowing has shot up to 4X as much.

What a great Tory mess!! How much more damage are this extreme right-wing bunch of Tory nutcases going to cause?? The ERG is breaking this country out of their own racism, xenophobia and greed. Many of them re prospering at our expense!!

Oh – and I nearly forgot – Stamp Duty! Now who do you think that is going to benefit most??

The whole sham of fairness and levelling up has gone out the window! It always was a chimera, a con-trick.

What we now have is true Toryism!! They take from the poor and give to the rich!!

Why Osama Bin Laden has won.

A terrorist attack is just that – it spreads terror. It is no real threat to the State. It cannot kill that many people. Even the terrible attacks on the twin towers was minor damage and loss of life compared to the devastation of wars – such as in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. Terrorism is intended to create fear and panic out of all proportion to its actual threat and that’s precisely what it did.

The objectives of the terror attacks was to undermine the West, split up alliances and weaken their power.

That is what it succeeded in doing. It threw the West into a panic and created knee-jerk responses.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were painted as attacks on Islam.

It generated a fear of Islam and immigrants in general among the American and British people and empowered racists and xenophobes.

It spread fear and created a siege mentality.

The result was a rise in right-wing populism resulting in inept government and protective, isolationist policies against the threats from outsiders.

This resulted in the election of Trump, the absurdity of Brexit and the election of Johnson.

Around the world other far-right populist leaders were elected – Modi, Erdogan, Orban and Bolsonaro. They all fed off racism, the fear of Muslim terrorism, outsiders and threats from outside. They all provided simplistic black and white answers that were mere tokens doomed to fail. They fed off slogans – Build that Wall, Make America Great Again, World-Beating and Oven-Ready, slogans that seemed full of promise but with not the slightest chance of delivering solutions to complex problems.

The whole world swung to the right with barriers, splintering of alliances and walls.

The EU was weakened.

NATO was weakened.

The UN was weakened.

America and the UK were greatly weakened and ignobly kicked out of Afghanistan.

The Taliban and Al Qaeda were rampant.

The Arab Spring was crushed.

The whole western alliance and all it stands for was dealt a hefty blow and has not recovered.

The wars in the Middle East have proved a great recruiting ground for terrorists and extreme, fanatical Islam.

The West is considerably weakened and an extreme version of Islam is much stronger.

As far as Osama Bin Laden would have been concerned – job done!

Poetry – Just Think

Just Think

Just think how serene life would have been

Without Brexit and Trump to make us so mean!

We’d be surging ahead with elation instead

Of shuffling along with feet made of lead;

We’d be smiling and whistling with teeth all glistening

Instead of shouting and screaming with hackles all bristling.

If only the lies had not promised relief

From the austerity robbing joy like a sniggering thief.

If only the racism and fear had not robbed us of cheer

And caused the specter of fascism to once more draw near.

Just think what our lives might have become

If we’d all benefitted from that better income.

Just think if the division now sitting at our gate

Was unity and not this ugly snarl of hate.

Just think………………

Looking back to the time of the referendum is a strange thing to do. Back then the country was quite a friendly, cheery place. Racism was well on the decline. The economy was booming. The pound was strong. It seems a bit of a utopia now.

Of course there were underlying problems. We had had too much immigration too quickly. A lot of Eastern Europeans were coming in and a lot of Muslims were coming in as refugees from the war zones and economically ravaged countries. There was the specter of terrorism hanging over us. It was causing a lot of pressure on our institutions. It was causing fear and concern. The immigrants were concentrated in a number of areas. On top of that many areas of Britain were suffering from depression. The major well-paying industries had disappeared and people were thrown out of well-paying jobs into stuffing shelves, delivering parcels or flipping burgers on low pay or else they were on the dole. We’d had years of Tory austerity (and bloated bankers). There was a lot of discontent.

The politicians jumped on these problems, ramped up the fears and desperation and used it to create hate, division and a new wave of nationalistic populism.

Now our economy is dragging along on the bottom, hate crime and racism is rife, the pound has dived and fascists are marching on the street. The future looks bleak.

Just think how good things might have been if we hadn’t foolishly voted out? If the politicians had dealt with the problems so many of us were experiencing instead of sweeping it under the carpet? If we hadn’t had years of austerity?

Now we’re busy shooting ourselves in both feet so that we can run faster.
