I have spent the day putting the finishing touches to my 36th book of poetry – Fighting Words. This was one of the poems. We have a strutting fascist in the manner of Mussolini and a docile GOP willing to swallow their morality for self-gain. We have evangelicals swallowing their morals too. We have a fascist dictatorship looking to upset the world order. We have a tyrant who is siding with totalitarian regimes – Russia and North Korea. We have a man who is a twisted sociopath developing into a megalomaniac and wanting total control.
We’re in the rule of double-think, of conspiracy, propaganda and lies.
And the GOP, who once used to represent values, is now a hypocritical supporter of extremism!!

Where rapists are moral exemplars, who can do no wrong,
Where it is normal to send your dollars to billionaires and give huge tax cuts to the wealthy.
Welcome to the NEW GOP
Where greed is the essential characteristic and lying is a requisite
Where black is white, wrong is right and totalitarianism is the new aim.
Welcome to Project 2025
Where the blueprint for the end of democracy lurks,
Where the taking over of all federal agencies, schools and police is normalised.
Welcome to the Evangelical Extremes,
Where women know their place and do not speak,
Where they know their place in the kitchen and bedroom and pop out babies.
Welcome to the Conservative Right,
Where books are banned and gays banished,
Where apple pie and family values hide a myriad of hypocrisy and filth.
Welcome to the NEW America,
A land of white supremacists with guns,
Bible-bashing misogynists, burning crosses and a new form of slavery.
Welcome to the land of MAGA,
Where we burn the world with relish,
Kow-tow to billionaires and tyrants and conform to patriotic thuggery.
Welcome to the Age of Conspiracy,
Where the more outrageous the lie the more it is believed,
The flat earth society, alien lizards and baby-eating democrats.
Welcome to the Future,
A land where the billionaires call the shots
And the minions fanatically fight for the right to oppress minorities.

They sing of the land of the free where billionaires hypnotise the masses and democracy wanes. Where Hitler is revered, the holocaust denied and racism rules.
The Confederacy fought a civil war in an attempt to keep their slaves and now that shame-ridden rag is raised as a rebel rallying call and racism is normalised.
This is the land where QANON and conspiracy rule; where experts are derided and immigrants like Musk and Murdock are the only acceptable people. Where Presidents build walls to keep immigrants out but it is OK to marry them.
This is the land of guns, hatred, division and conformity where patriotism is a weapon.
This is the land of superstition where education is suspect – who wants an educated, thinking populace – keep the minions dumb.
