I’m just looking at the Desperate Tory policy changes!!

They’ve looked at the Hammersmith by-election and the ULEZ controversy and think there are votes to be had by allowing the planet to burn!

They are now on the side of motorists not little children dying of asthma, not people crippled by fumes and air pollution. They think they can appeal to voters by dumping green policies.

Who cares if the world burns? People are selfish. Appeal to their selfishness; appeal to their pockets.

So – look out for a desperate culture wars where we ignore slavery and the reality of the Empire with its wars and racism; we celebrate our history and glorious little England and sweep all the abuse (both home and abroad) under the carpet. We conveniently forget the massive poverty, child labour, prostitution and slums (while the elite lived in their mansions with servants and prospered at the expense of slaves, child labour and working class poverty). We are British and proud! Who cares about the truth!!

And who do these Tories represent? – The same robber barons who exploited us all in the past. So prepare for another bout of Little England phoney British nationalism. I can’t wait to read the headlines on the Mail, Sun and Express as they set about brainwashing, dividing and manipulating us!

The battle lines are being drawn! LET THE PLANET BURN!!! WASN’T BRITAIN GREAT!!!

  1. Opher, have you left your senses? Or have you already sold your car, and vowed never to own one, or ride in one, again?

Take a deep breath, and look at the evidence. Observable evidence. Then, judge the politicians. Of all parties. And the media, that you have allowed to fill you with fear, without any rational basis.

Opher, over the last few years you have become my friend. Please take the trouble to look at the world as it is, rather than how “they” tell you to.

    1. I’m not open to cheap Tory tactics Neil. I’m not taken in by their phoney posturing.
I am one of the most cynical, sceptics with politicians (Paticularly the over-privileged self-servers of the Tory Party) but I’m not stupid. I do look at the evidence. It is overwhelming.
As a biologist I see it all around me – the species creep (hummingbird hawkmoths, blues, fritillaries and brimstones all moving north) and flowering. Biology doesn’t lie. From my global travel I have seen the evidence everywhere I have gone and it distresses me greatly. The world is warming fast, there is massive environmental damage and pollution and a huge drop in animal populations. The world is in big trouble.
I also look at the evidence in cities of the impact of air pollution on health – and particularly young lungs and old hearts.
I think it is you who have dug yourself in a hole and refuse to budge.
I think it would be a great idea to get all cars out of city centres and have a really efficient public transport system with moving sidewalks, trams, buses and underground, bikes and pedestrianised roads – a great idea – and I love driving! Driving in cities is a stressful nightmare. I’d gladly not do it.
