China – Guilin – Fubo Hill – the Cave full of Buddhas

Fubo Hill was quite amazing. You had a great view over the area with all its weird mountains but you also had these ancient caves full of carved images of Buddhas and Buddhist texts.

Although I did hear that a lot of these had been destroyed in the Cultural Revolution and subsequently restored.

China is recreating its history for tourists! But then – who isn’t?

The culmination of the caves was a large statue of a gold Buddha.

  1. What an interesting place! I heard a lot of places were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution which is so sad because China has such a fascinating history.

I'd like to hear from you...
