Is Trump at the D-Day Landings an oxymoron?

Is the fact that Trump is presiding over the celebration of the D-Day landings an oxymoron?

The D-Day landings were when our brave soldiers, from Britain, America and a host of other countries, landed in France to drive the Nazis back and defeat Hitler. They were fighting to free the world of Fascist tyranny. In the face of machine guns and shells they stormed the Normandy beaches and risked their lives. Many died.

They were fighting to rid the world of the scourge of racism, tyranny, intolerance and brutality represented by the extreme right-wing fascism of the Nazi Party.

They stood for the values of freedom, equality and a more caring world.

It seems strange to me that 75 years later we see a world leader, like Trump, who is lauded by every fascist group going, presiding over this celebration of the defeat of fascism.

That is what I call an oxymoron!

  1. Trouble is that Trumpf is such a narcissistic ignoramus that he does not know what the invasion at Normandie was all about. For someone who dodged the draft because he was too chicken-shit to be called up for service in Vietnam and who declared that he thinks he would make a great general. What Drumpf needs is a reversal of the lobotomy that the Russians may have performed on him during his sojourn in Moscow.

    1. Arrogance personified! I’m not sure personality defects can be addressed with surgery – worth a try though!

      1. Cheers Tub – that sounds just the thing! For delicate surgery of this nature my axe might prove a little unwieldy; a chainsaw would be perfect!

  2. Your hypocrisy makes me laugh so much. You object to duly Elected President Trump being present to pay His Respects to the Americans who gave their lives for Our Freedom on D-Day. Yet you make no mention and would undoubtedly have no objections to seeing a man at the Bayeux Cathedral Service for the Veterans and those that gave their lives, who through his own words was on the side of Hitler who is an ANTI-SEMITE TERRORIST SUPPORTER TRAITOR TO UK COMMUNIST MARXIST we know the name of the Rat don’t we Corbyn. That’s acceptable is it thats hypocrisy. Corbyn along with fellow Rats khan and thornberry Incited Violence the other day with their speeches to their mob thugs & don’t waste time denying it. Corbyn even stood alongside a Terrorist. Then Corbyn has the gall to attend the Service for those Courageous Men who fought and Died and those that survived who to this day have the horrendous memories of those events embedded in their minds. How nice to see him scuttling away looking for someone to talk to him & when he approached two French Officials who politely shook his hand and then made their quick escape he scuttled away annoyed looking like the rat he is with his two rats Thornberry etc in tow. You have the nerve to condemn and Disrespect a duly elected President paying His Respects to America’s War Dead on D-Day. I would have thought Opher you would have more to worry about in this Country & the thought of that ANTI-SEMITE TERRORIST SUPPORTER Corbyn desperate to gain power to enable him to do what he has always wanted to do DESTROY THE UK. No from the above it seems the only interest is to make disgusting comments. Don’t bother calling me a Liar/Racist/Bigot/Fascist or even Black shirt you once called me, heard it all before. My Union Jack is Flying HIGH outside our House, unlike you I Love and am LOYAL to my Country.

    1. Gosh Anna – you really do get the wrong end of the stick.
Your love of fascists like Tommy Robinson and loathing of fair-minded people like Corbyn is sad to witness.
      I love my country too.
You’re flying your flag while supporting the very things we were fighting against. There’s irony for you.
I want a better, more tolerant, inclusive country with liberal values. You seem to want a fascist regime.
Trump is on a par with the KKK. To have him presiding is opposed to everything our boys fought for.

Me thinks you’ve being reading too much right-wing propaganda.
