Roy Harper – trial update

This is about where we are:

All Roy has to do is show his tackle to the court and I think he’s home and dry.

  1. Love reading your recent posts , can’t believe of wasn’t aware of you and your wonderful blogs although more that likely bumped into at a Harper gig at some point over the years….

    1. Thanks Wayne. It’s nice to know someone appreciates them. I often feel I shout into a vacuum.
As I used to travel the country, and still do with Nick, it is more than likely our paths will have crossed.
I suppose I was attracted to Harper because I have that same attitude he has that you should communicate exactly what is in your head. If you’ve got a view – say it. I write about the things I’m passionate about. That doesn’t make me popular. But at least you can be true to your ideals and you stand up for them.
      Look where it’s got him!
But what the hell!! If you don’t speak your heart you won’t change the world!

  2. I could write ( word for word ) what Wayne wrote … totally agree; great posts I’ve been reading from you (Opher) in the past week about the Harpers … we MUST have met at a Roy or Nick gig over the years … perhaps we did , but my memory is like a sieve !!?

    1. Thanks. It’s nice to get some feedback. I think Roy and Tracy need all the support they can get. It must have been unbearable.
I hope you like the rest of of the blog. I am open to suggestions or feedback, positive or negative. It’s all about communication, isn’t it.
Look out for me at the next gig. Hopefully it’ll be a great celebration!
      Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated.
      All the best – Opher

  3. Hello Opher you and I met in May 1988 when Roy Played at Sheffield University Octagon Theatre I purchased a copy of Sophisticated Beggar….. I want to state and to place on record my complete and utter support for Roy Harper i have believed in him and his music since 1978 when i first heard “One of those days in England”aged just 14 ,we all know Roy has lead a colourful and at times chaotic life and by his own bare knuckle open honesty from the stage declared that he is far from perfect, but having followed the proceedings via daily reports the case against him as far as i am concerned is non existent,if Roy were to be convicted on the evidence presented to the court that i have read about it would be an absolute disgrace.Saturday was my Birthday I turned 51 earlier the previous week my old mum who is 79 asked me what i wanted and i just turned to her and said “Justice for Roy and an end to this travesty ASAP” and she burst into tears.

    1. Thanks for that Jon. I quite agree – the evidence does sound flimsy. Let us hope the jury sees it the same way. I find it hard to believe that the Crown Prosecution thought there was a case. We’ll see.
If it all goes well we’ll have one enormous celebration!!
I’m glad we met. You’ve got a good memory!
      All the best – opher
