I found this piece from Pamela Bruce thought-provoking. Did Trump have a stroke or some aphasic mental event? It looks like it to me.
To stand around doing his strange swaying hand pumps that serve as a ‘dance’ is weird. Twenty minutes is a long long time. He didn’t/couldn’t speak and had that vacant, inane expression on his face. It was exactly the sort of expression you see on people suffering a big mental confusion that they are desperately attempting to control.
Was it a stroke?
What is really worrying is that the USA is close to electing this old raddled megalomaniac into a position of absolute power over the world – and he’s a vindictive old man full of hate and some hideous need to control and punish. Anything could happen. He’s had his life. He’s got nothing to lose.
World War 3?? A Totalitarian State?? Giving total control to the religious extremists and billionaires??
Scares the life out of me! This really is fascism and Trump is a malevolent puppet for a lot of nasty unscrupulous people.

People who have dementia can’t deal with breaks in routine. Two people collapsing at his town hall triggered a non-lucid moment in Trump. Familiar music sometimes returns a person’s mind to a more familiar space. I imagine this is a technique that Trump’s handlers have used many times before. The fact that they couldn’t really bring Trump back to reality this time is why they are now cancelling his less-controlled campaign engagements.
The thing I find most ironic and hypocritical about this is that Biden’s gaffs were extremely minor in comparison and the MAGA crowd is now silent.
