We had a great walk along the shore near Whitby. The light was wintry and weird.

Bleak and wild. Ancient and slightly scary. Haven’t been for years. Have some rather unusual contacts up there from university days. I must go up there when the vaccine haa done its work. Bede wrote about the absurd Synod if Whitby where, inter alia, they decided the correct shape of a monk’s tonsure!
I do love Whitby! The abbey is so picturesque. It has atmosphere. The Goth weekend is fun too!

21st December! Ah yes, thank heavens. I can’t say I am a big fan if winter although it is probably ideal weather to enjoy the full atmosphere of those mysterious northern coastlines.
I’m more of a tropical person too – but those wintry skies are magical.
