Sri Lanka – Colombo – Sunset and inside the temple!

We were able to go right up inside the temple which was decorated with various colourful scenes. We stayed to watch the sun set over Colombo.

Sri Lanka – Colombo – The Hindu Temple

The sun was beginning to set. A group of women, all dressed in white, were making their way to the unique temple – a giant stupa on stilts.

We followed them.

Sri Lanka – Colombo – in the park with the jackdaws, herons and fruit bats.

When you are in a tropical place it is incredible to see such exotic wildlife.

Sri Lanka – The Buddhist Temple in Colombo – the most ornate ceilings and walls.

Statues, Elephants heads and the most lavish decor. The whole place felt serene and astounding.

Sri Lanka – Some magnificent birds.

Nature is wonderful!!

Vietnam – Halong Bay, Vultures and Islands.

Vultures flew overhead as we set off on a small boat to get a closer look at the strange rock formations.

Vietnam – Halong Bay – Dawn

Coming into harbour, slowing gliding between the strange rock formations coming out of the sea, catching sight of the incongruous funfair park. There was a lot of excitement.

Vietnam – Halong Bay – Arriving at dawn with the Squid fishing boats between the picturesque rocks.

The boats use lights to attract the squid and then catch them in large numbers. To see them in the twilight was a nice welcome.

Back out of Petra – Photos

Very tired and elated we walked back through the cleft to the outside world.

Petra is one of the world’s most spectacular places.

Petra – A final goodbye

It would have been great to see the place before it was desecrated by the fanatical Muslims who shot all the statues to pieces.

With one last look (it’s unlikely we’ll ever go back – we’ve been lucky enough to visit twice) we set off back up the cleft.
