Why would you deliberately make trade difficult with your biggest trading partners? Something that makes us all poorer and has ruined our public services!
That is really shooting yourself in both feet!
Why did so many become persuaded by the Brexit/Reform Party and ERG, Farage, Tice and Johnson, that it would be a good idea to make ourselves a lot poorer??
Farage and Johnson managed to create hysteria over immigrants in the same way that Trump is doing in the USA. They rode in on a wave of racism, xenophobia coupled with jingoistic nationalism. The same brand as the KKK and Proud Boys, the National Front and British Movement. Even louts like Tommy Robinson were lauded.
Farage, Tice, Johnson and Trump have succeeded in empowering fringe extreme right-wing groups. It’s a phenomenon I see right across the world. The poor and displaced, instead of turning against the billionaires who have created the problems with their wars and outsourcing, global warming and support of fascists, were steered towards blaming it on immigrants. A classic smokescreen. Militant Jihadist Muslims were able to instil fear and siege mentality. Bin Laden did what he set out to do. He has severely fractured and weakened the West (Allowing tyrants like Putin to flex their muscles).
The question remains: WHY WAS THERE NO REAL DEBATE??
Why were Remain so incompetent?
They allowed the ERG to push through a damaging Hard Brexit.
A Hard Brexit is not what such a narrow margin voted for! There should have been an extensive debate!
We had Theresa May caving in to the ERG with her stupid message: Brexit means Brexit. Bollocks!! Nobody had sorted what Brexit really meant! We needed to sort that out before we did it. But, stupidly, we didn’t.
The UK narrowly voted to leave the European Union. There were many reasons and many ways of doing that.
Some wanted sovereignty back and wanted to leave the political side.
Some wanted freedom of movement stopped.
Some wanted to be out altogether.
There was no mandate for extreme action. Brexit meant many things. All of which had plusses and minuses.
We could have withdrawn politically from the EU but remained in the Customs Union and Single Market.
We could have just remained in the Customs Union.
We could have just remained in the single market.
We could have stayed in the joint ventures – Erasmus scheme, nuclear, science, policing, intelligence ETC.
Instead Farage, Johnson and co pushed for a complete break! How fucking stupid can you get??

Isn’t it obvious that we need a soft Brexit inside the Customs Union and Single Market?? Isn’t that just common sense??
Why throw away £37 Billion just because you are an arrogant xenophobe with rose-tinted glasses about the importance of a fading power?? Why indeed??
Well the why is obvious – Farage, Tice and Johnson, Rees-Mogg and others have walked away with millions! It’s us who pick up the bill!
