Once the church was all powerful. It vied with the King for power. Henry the Eighth brought it down. Supposedly the monarchy too has little power and power now resides with the people via parliament. Not hard to see that is an illusion. The government is controlled by big money; the establishment is in control.
I like the ruins of past power. It gives me hope.
