Death of a Relationship
In the warmth of the summer sun
The rose fully opens
Its pink petals moist with dew.
Sap rises.
Shoots pierce the firmament.
In the icy depths of winter
Buds contract,
Petals pale, dry and brittle
In the frigid air
Shoots shrivel in the frosty ground.

Love is an aphrodisiac but when a relationship dies …..
I’m working on a Leonard Cohen book; this is what it does to you!
Oh my, yes you are being very ‘cohenesque’. There’s an interesting Spanish link to Lorca and the Asturias prize I found not long ago. He talks about a poignant inspiration from a flamenco guitar player too. All must have affected his mood.
It’s fascinating to research it all for the book. I get caught up in the whole Cohen mood!
