Death of a Relationship
In the warmth of the summer sun
The rose fully opens
Its pink petals moist with dew.
Sap rises.
Shoots pierce the firmament.
In the icy depths of winter
Buds contract,
Petals pale, dry and brittle
In the frigid air
Shoots shrivel in the frosty ground.
