Roy was awarded the Hero Award by Mojo magazine in 2005 but for some reason, he did not perform a concert for the award until 2010. Perhaps someone can explain why they were so divorced from each other?
I was just digging through my photo files (which are in a bit of a mess) looking for photos of a dearly loved good friend of mine who has just died and stumbled upon these.
The concert was a great intimate affair with superb lighting, sound and ambience. I took Liz and a couple of friends and we had a great time. We were seated at a table up on the balcony, we had a meal and then Roy served up the ideal dessert. He was relaxed and in fine fettle.
I can’t remember the name of the venue (I’m sure someone will fill me in) but it was quite plush and the technology was first-class. I remember thinking at the time that it was a tad removed from good old Les Cousins.
Anyway, I thought I’d share these freshly uncovered snapshots I made of the prestigious occasion.
