Once upon a time, not so long ago, we all have these wonderful opportunities. Then, in a xenophobic rage, we kicked them into touch. We could have left but stayed in the single market and customs union and retained all the privileges with none of the delays, red tape and tariffs – even better than Northern Ireland. That’s what parliament wanted until xenophobia won, Johnson, Farage and Cummings lied and the ultra-right ERG got their way. We ended broken with a Tory Brexit. Ho hum.
