Clarkson and Misogyny.

Expressing disgust at how people live, their policies or attitudes, is one thing. To explain what it is you don’t like about a person or to take exception to what they do sits fine with me. I’m even alright at expressing hatred towards individuals – the warmongers, torturers, religious fanatics, political extremists and profiteers all figure highly in my hate column. I’m not even concerned about causing offence. Causing offence to people who deserve to be castigated and offended – like Tory or Trump supporters, tabloid readers, evangelists, right-wing nutcases, prudes, exploiters, religious zealots, racists, sexists or misogynists seems almost a moral duty.

I’m no royalist (indeed I’d abolish the lot of them along with all the other aristocrats with their obnoxious class system) but what Clarkson said was without focus, without reason and came over to me as a very unpleasant, unnecessarily sexualised, perverse misogynistic delusion.

I wouldn’t even suggest doing something like this with people like Priti Patel, Suella Braverman or Margaret Thatcher. Obnoxious, arrogant and nasty individuals that they are (and were) and people who are doing, or have done a lot of harm to a lot of people, I’d simply kick them out of office and catalogue the ways in which these unpleasant extreme right-wing people cause so much misery.

I'd like to hear from you...
