We set off into the outback to track down the Powerful Owl.
The bird is one of the largest owls in the world, a mysterious nocturnal creature. We did not really think we would find one. They are extremely rare. We knew one had been spotted in the area.
We were lucky. We were pushing our way through an overgrown trail and looked up and there it was peering down at us – a powerful owl.

Incredible photos of an amazing bird. I am reading Owl Sense at the moment by Miriam Dartington. Really beautifully written and want to head off to Serbia to see a local town square full of long eared owls.
