Suella Braverman: ‘Hate on Britain’s streets proves that multiculturalism has failed’ (msn.com)
Yes, there is hate on our streets. Yes the right-wing fascists are marching and getting stronger (thanks to the likes of Cruella, Patel, Trump and Farage). Yes we are in an unpleasant phase of right-wing populism. Yes there are a lot of racists around and Brexit empowered them and brought them out of the woodwork. Yes the Tory antiEU and antiimmigrant policies have fuelled racism.
But no – multiculturalism is not dead. As soon as we have ousted these mean-minded Tories with all their xenophobia and racism we can start to get the genie back in its bottle. We can change the zeitgeist. We can open up, remove this fear of foreigners and rediscover our caring, friendly side.
Britain has changed since the open racial hostility of the fifties! We have become much better. We are a pluralistic, multicultural society. As soon as we put the minority of nasty racist nutters back in their box we can resume the making of a warm and friendly country again.
The problem is the likes of Cruella and her divisive xenophobia!
