Leaner, fitter and knackered!! – Day 4 of the move!

Whose idea was this??

We are leaving the beauty of a large rambling barn conversion, full of character and beauty, for the compact comfort of a modern house on an estate.

We are trying to sort and condense the accumulation of ‘stuff’ gathered over fifty years.

We are trying to fit in a gallon into a pint pot without any overflow.

Fortunately we are in a position to move over a period of time. In order to do that we have severely overstretch ourselves so stress levels are running high.

Moving over a period of time is a mixed blessing. It means that every day we are loading, sorting and transporting things between the two houses (Fortunately over two miles apart). It’s endless.

How can two people have accumulated so much?

We are jettisoning precious books, artefacts and works of art – memories from the past. Living in huge houses enabled us to spread out. Now reality hits home.

We are downsizing with a vengeance. Sprawl and collecting is giving way to comfort and ease.

The beginning of a trajectory!
