Continuing the walk from Beck Hole to Grosmont

Unfortunately the pub was shut at Beck Hole. We walked through the village and set off along the old railway track back to Grosmont. It was hard to believe that this green valley was once a great thriving centre of industrial Britain. It had a railway station before London. The whole area was covered in iron foundries, mines and industrial factories. All gone now. The railway line was abandoned when the industries went. We passed a row of miners cottages for the mineworkers in a nearby abandoned iron ore mine.
