A Ray of Hope

A Ray of Hope

A brilliant ray of sunlight,

                A stream of photons,

Searing through space,

                Forever.

Bouncing off planets,

                Bouncing off faces,

                                Banishing darkness.

A burst of energy

                Released from fission,

                                From fusion,

                                                From the smashing of atoms.

To interact

                In colour,

                                In brightness;

Revealing

                A version of

What

                                                Is real.

Some things are eternal – just not people. We die.

But the sun is a factory for smashing atoms to exude light and heat and we have evolved to see it and feel it.

We have evolved senses to respond to some of its energies – but only certain wavelengths. We discern colours and warmth but not gamma or X rays.

Our senses are limited. But those rays of light go on for ever. Excited photons chattering in beams of hope.

So – what is real?
